I have long admired 1 of 100 designs, and the underlying ethos of the brand. For me, a 1 of 100 design highlight has been the Priti Fascist t-shirt, which has served me as a shortcut to solidarity with complete strangers; it is a literal signage of moral stance.
When Optic Nerve Recordings approached me to reissue Stop The Rain, a tied-in collaboration with 1 of 100 seemed to be a logical next step. I have wanted to create a Suede's t-shirt for years; I love that logo.
The Suede Crocodiles only officially released one single, Stop The Rain, and it was featured as single of the week in both NME and Melody Maker. We had a great few months travelling around the UK in a van, performing the songs which, much later, became our Stop The Rain album. We supported Nick Heyward and were blessed that he let us sleep in his tour bus; our budget didn't stretch to a hotel!
So, the band was short-lived, but the songs stand the test of time. I feel validated that Stop The Rain is getting a new lease of life, and that the original Suede Crocodile is getting it's own t-shirt. https://shorturl.at/NyfoC
